The Mexican Packaging Association (AMEE) awarded 36 of Vitro glass containers the “2004 Stellar Container” Annual Contest award.

In order to promote growth and profitability among its glass distribution channel by better integrating them to its value chain, to be closer to its final consumers by achieving and anticipating their needs, as well as to consolidate its market share in Mexico, Vitro launched today Vitromart, its new store chain dedicated to distribution of architectural and construction glass by which Flat Glass initiates the integration of 150 stores in 100 cities in Mexico, and revolutionize the glass industry.

Vitro Cristalglass Starts Operations in Gijón, Spain


Vitro Cristalglass, the European subsidiary of Vitro S.A. de C.V.
announced that its new production facility in Gijón, Spain, started operations on May 20, 2004. Located in the Porceyo Industrial Park, the new plant’s latest generation double-glazing manufacturing line will serve the needs of current and future Asturias customers.

With this new facility, Vitro Cristalglass increases its manufacturing capability to five plants in Spain and Portugal and consolidates its growing position in Europe.

Crisa PH starts operations in Mexicali


April 30, 2004 - Crisa, Vitro’s business unit dedicated to glass manufacturing and commercialization, announces the aperture of its store Crisa PH in Mexicali. Now housewives, businesses, hotels and restaurants in this city as well as other important cities in the state of Baja California can acquire glassworks, crockery, ovenproofs, cutlery, pewter and aluminum products from Crisa and Libbey, among other things, directly from factory.

Vitro signed a five-year agreement to supply glass Bottles to St. Julian, Michigan’s Largest Winery


Vitro Packaging, Vitro’s U.S. subsidiary, announced that it has recently signed a five-year contract with St. Julian, Michigan’s largest and oldest winery, to supply all of its Still wine requirements. Most of the requirements will be converted to Vitro bottles that use a roll-on finish compatible with a Stel capsule.
